I am writing this day because this is the day we are to celebrate our love for those close to our hearts. All around our country today people were given chocolates, roses, jewelery, and other gifts of love. Now before I go on I want to say that I don't have a problem with Valentines Day, even if it has been over commercialized. This is the one day in the year where hearts are placed everywhere. Google's home page has(d) an image of two figure skaters who have carved a heart into the ice. People can select hearts or roses for their my yahoo theme. You can't even get a cup of coffee without a reference to chocolate and love being flashed before your eyes.
I want to go a little deeper into where Love comes from or more importantly who love is? We all probably have heard the legend of St. Valentine, but is he the source of love. I have been asking myself this week many questions about love. You see, as a husband I am called to love my wife unconditionally. Love is not based on emotions, feelings, or gifts. Love is a choice that requires constant refreshing. In order to get a real understanding of this I decided that I would ask God to show me what love is. By asking God this I was really asking him to show my heart what lies in His heart. Oh the week I had in fellowship with the Lord.
This evening He brought me into His word, in the First book of John chapter four verses 7 through 21. This is what our Heavenly Father wants me to tell you.
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us . God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so are weProxy-Connection: keep-alive

n this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also."
I don't think it can be said better then that. The source of all Love is God, even on the 14th of February.
Yet He hath made with me an everlasting covenant
